Glenn Cruey
was born in El Paso, Texas and has lived in California, Colorado and
Missouri, before returning to Texas for the majority of his life.
Glenn started singing and playing the piano at an early age, taking
piano lessons from the well know songwriter and musician Lanny Wolfe
as well as classical music and voice lessons at San Jose State
University, also his Alma Mater for a Chemical Engineering degree.
Glenn played the piano for the San Jose First United Pentecostal
church and sang bass in several local quartets in the 70s. In the
early 70's Glenn formed a quartet called “The Gospel Truth”,
singing bass, playing the piano and writing, arranging many of their
songs. They recorded and toured California, the Midwest and
Southern states for a number of years.Glenn’s
unique combination of a double major in music and engineering was a
topic of humor at both university departments and amongst many of his
friends. After 3 years of juggling the demands of both majors, Glenn
began concentrating on completing his Engineering degree, upon
recognition of a musician’s modest income, and graduated in 1975.
Not one to give up on his dreams, after graduation Glenn joined the
staff of Gateway College in St Louis as Music director. After 2 years
in this position, Glenn became Music director for the First United
Pentecostal Church in Odessa, Texas. It was in Odessa that Glenn
succumbed to the realities of the music field and began working as an
engineer, still keeping his night-time music director position. After
10 years in this ministry, Glenn’s engineering position moved him
to a number of Texas cities, Corpus Christi, Plano, Katy, South
Houston, Beaumont and then back to Houston. During these years,
Glenn remained active in singing and playing in all churches he
attended. Several years
ago, Glenn reconnected with a member of his earlier quartet singing
days. This friend had joined a quartet in the Los Angeles area as
tenor and began encouraging Glenn to pursue this “passion” for
Southern Gospel quartet singing. Glenn answered an advertisement
from a Gospel magazine for a “certain” quartet in central Texas,
which was looking for a bass singer. The rest is history and Glenn
became part of the MasterPeace quartet in late 2009 after a whirlwind
series of auditions, practices and recordings. Glenn is
currently living in the Woodlands, attending a thriving
Non-Denominational church and assists in both song and keyboards.
Glenn is married to Janie, has 2 daughters and works for a large
Refining & Chemical company. When the opportunity came to join
“MasterPeace” as their bass, Glenn was wholeheartedly delighted
to bring his talent and love for God to the group.
